Guess who's back!

Yep. It's the Sophie! I would show pictures if I could get my camera to cooperate. She's home. She's absolutely filthy, but she's home. It took Mike and I both to get her in the house. She was skittish and didn't want to be caught. But then the first thing she did when she got in the house was run to her catnip scratcher, lay on it, and scratch to her hearts content. Then she flopped on the floor and slept. Hard core cat sleeping. Like, so hard that even the pug snuffling in her face didn't bug her. I don't think she slept well out in "the wild."
I'm so glad she's home. Now to get her a bath...

She's gone

Still no Sophie. She must have snuck out last night as Mike came in the door. We've searched high and low in the house and haven't seen anything. So tonight we made posters and hung them up. I asked neighbors to keep an eye out. We're going to call the pound tomorrow just to cover all bases. We put food and water out front in hopes that she'll find her way back to us. Please keep us in your thoughts and hope for the best. I know it may seem silly to some, but she's part of our family and she's missing. Mike and I are both depressed and struggling with this. I've never had a pet go missing and I'm so upset even at the thought of not having her here anymore.

Fail!

I completely lose in the posting every day category. I fell asleep on the couch last night and then went to bed. I woke up suddenly at 3:30 this morning and realized I hadn't posted. FAIL! Oh well, back on track now I suppose.

So, Sophie is MIA right now. Sophie is our cat. She doesn't get much face time here. Maybe that's why she's hiding. Either way, Mike's really worried and I must admit I'm a little concerned as well. We spent about 45 minutes shaking treats and toys around the house and opening up every door and cabinet we could. No Soph anywhere. I'm sure she'll somehow appear tonight. Sophie is a champ at hiding and she's done this to us a few times but it's been a couple of years since she hid this well. However, there's that teeny, tiny, nagging feeling in the back of my mind wondering if somehow she got outside. We searched front and back and didn't see her but maybe she wandered? Now I'm more worried. *sigh* I'll update tomorrow.

In brighter news, Bridget will be 5 months tomorrow. Holy cow.

On a much cuter note

This is my dog, the treat snob. He's so obnoxious but so dang cute!

Pug-O-Rama was this weekend. It's the big fundraiser for the Southern Nevada Pug Rescue where we got Chiisai and sweet angel Yoda. I've been pretty involved with them since we adopted the puggies. We foster pugs until they find forever home and go to meet ups and such. Anyways, my friends asked me to run the adoption booth for a few hours and of course I said yes. Such sweet babies were there.
On with the point though... at the gate they gave out doggie treat bags. Chiisai is a well known treat snob in our house. No one at the pug rescue believed me. If you know pugs at all, they are only one step removed from vacuum cleaners and garbage disposals. They will generally eat ANYTHING. Not Chiisai. He is VERY picky about the treats he'll eat and the few he does, he'll usually only eat if he gets them from Mike or me. (He's a smart one and doesn't take treats from strangers. Haha!) Late in the afternoon, Mike and I were eating our picnic lunch and I decided to give Chiisai one of the treats. He sniffed it and walked away. He wanted nothing to do with it. Then he saw another pug come nearby. He snatched up the treat and carried it around. Not biting it at all, just showing it off. He jumped up on me, then on to Mike, then back to me, then to the ground, etc... This went on for a good ten minutes. I called my friend Angie over and said, "Do you see my dog? He's being a treat snob!" That is when this picture was taken. He did eventually eat the treat but very grudgingly. He's such a pain but he makes me laugh every day!
What do your pets do to brighten your day?

It's a sickness I tell ya

So, I tracked down the next two Janet Evanovich books yesterday. I'm finished with them already. I'm telling you, someone needs to talk me down. This is kinda scary. Anyone? Anyone?

Ok, then I know where I can score the next two. I'm sure by Sunday I'll be tracking down 11-14. *sigh* At least it's something healthy, right?

In actual news worthy news (well, in my little life) Reynee will probably be adopted tomorrow. Thank goodness! As cute as she is and as much as she has endeared herself to me and Chiisai, I'm tired of her peeing on things. Any time that I take a shower, I come out and something is peed on. Not just the carpet either. She has to pee on things like blankets, pillows, clothes left on the floor,... Today I put her in her crate while I took a shower just so that I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning up. Chiisai looked at me like I was evil. I came out and he was laying in front of her crate and looking at me with eyes that said I'd betrayed him. WTH dog?! I didn't put YOU in a crate. He's definitely going to miss her. And really, with a face like this...

...who wouldn't?

The animals

Because the last post left me a little depressed, I am making a new post full of the animals in my life that make me happy. Most of these are old, but I don't care. The animals don't change much.

Chiisai as a spider last Halloween. He didn't like the costume very much.

He was much happier as a bee.

This is Reynee, our foster. She is such a sweetie. I'm still hoping someone adopts her soon because she's really starting to fit in here and Mike has forbidden another pet for right now.

This is Zoe when we were moving into the house. She found the Christmas wreath and decided it was a perfect bed for her. It was like an inpenetrable fortress from the dogs and Sophie.

Speaking of Sophie, here she is in her most common position. This is her immediate pose as soon as we walk in the door from work. And any time we're going down the stairs. Or back up the stairs. Heck, any time we might possibly be walking past her, this is Soph's position. :)

I love my animals.

Another foster

She's so super cute!! Her name is Reynee (pronounced like "rainy") and she has so much love and energy. I am afraid that if she doesn't get adopted soon, I'll want to keep her. Chiisai immediately took to her and they have been playing and running around all morning. I mean, look at this cute face -

Alright, now I'm off to clean my house. I was appalled yesterday when I realized that there were very few spaces in my house that we clean enough to be a background for pictures of Reynee. Sad, sad. That's what happens when it's summer break and I decide that I'm taking a vaction from all responsibilities. But now my week off is over and I need to clean. Wish me luck.

The diva has arrived

So, this has been keeping me busy lately.

Her name is Ebony and she is available for adoption at through the Southern Nevada Pug Rescue. This is the same place we got our wonderful Chiisai from and we're fostering Ebony for them. She really is very sweet but the period of adjustment has been hard on all of us. Considering that she's 8 years old (senior citizen in dog years) she is a bundle of energy. Holy cow this girl goes nonstop! The first thing she does when I let her out of her crate in the morning is grab a toy and start walking in circles. Then, she'll stare at her tail for a few moments then, ZOOOOOM, the chasing commences. It's insane. Her tail must really piss her off to no end. She's a little diva and refuses to go up or down stairs. We have to carry her outside so she'll go potty. But, her face is just so dang cute...

Who could say no to that?! Hopefully, someone will want to adopt her soon before I get disowned by my entire household for bringing this diva in. :)

On a side note, just so you're aware, there are only 2 and a half days left of school. (Not that I'm counting or anything. ) :)

Later-

Kate

I'm MEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLTING!!!!!!!

Holy crap it's HOT!!!! 106 degrees today and it's only gonna get worse. Remind me again why I live in Vegas? Oh yes, I remember (That comma doesn't seem like the right punctuation for that sentence. Oh well. That's what's staying there.) It's where the jobs are.

I had a great weekend.

Actually got into a swimsuit for the first time in two years. It was kinda nice to be in the pool and not feel too self conscious about my body. It helps when the other people around you are not perfect little skinny airheads. Thanks for having a get together Jules.

Then, I went to a pug meetup at The District. I love hanging out with my pug friends. Especially at The District on a beautiful night full of misters and live music. FABULOUS! And, I get to see Chiisai's "WE'RE GOING FOR A WAAAAAAALK!!!!" face. Hilarious.

After that, a late night showing of Iron Man with bunches of friends. Great movie. If you're on the fence about seeing it, I highly recommend you do. Great lines and good acting.

Then, Sunday was gaming with Evan. I really enjoyed the session and it was good to get back into it after a two month haitus. My inner geek was starting to feel ignored. But, she is satisfied now. Yaaay!

In fertility news, I'm 5dpo (days past ovulation for those not in the know) and am trying to not get my hopes up. We had really great timing this month and I'm taking the provera which, fingers crossed, should get my progesterone up high enough to hold on to an egg. I got my first BFP May 21st of last year. It's kinda a crappy anniversary to be coming up on and it keeps poking me in the back of the brain. At this time last year, Mike and I were in San Diego enjoying the sun and Shamu. We had no idea that I was pregnant. I was feeling great and was so happy with my life. Now, after the miscarriage, my wedding anniversary has been tainted with this shadow of sadness. I'm really hoping that May can be our happy month this year just like it was last year. And the year before that. Keep us in your thoughts please. Thanks.

Alright, that's all for now. I'm off to watch Dancing with the Stars!

Wanderings

Because this is what I do when I don't want to move. A feast of random internet wanderings for your enjoyment.

First, check your age I am apparently 16.6 years old and will live to be 83.4 Go me! What about you?

Next, I came across this which reminded me of dancing around in my friend Duck's living room during our flag twirling days. I also didn't realize how much he jumps around toward the end there. It's all nice and chronological until that last verse. Still, good job Billy Joel.

Also, for any that have a cat, this is for you. Even if you don't have a cat, open the link and laugh. Even though I've watched it probably 100 times, I still laugh. Probably because apart from the baseball bat, Sophie is EXACTLY like this every morning. Can't you just see it in her face.

"Alright, put the camera down and FEED ME!"

Made it through. How about you?

Haha, my title rhymes! That's about as poetic as I get folks so don't expect any more.

As the title says, I made it through the day. It started off very badly, with me getting to work about a half hour late and my sub already being there. I had to drop off my plans and then, since I was there, she asked me all sorts of questions. Ugh! Just let me get to my meeting.

Soooo, I finally got away from there, gathered up my things for my meeting, and scooted off to where I THOUGHT I was supposed to be. Apparently, there had been a change of venue and no one seemed to know where that was. So, I wandered around the school for awhile (all the time hoping none of my students would see me) and finally tracked everyone down. Grrr.

Overall, the meeting was good. Productive and fun. Since it was a group of women, the question went around "How was your Mother's Day?" I was fine with it as most of the women there know I don't have kids, but I felt a pang of concern for my principal. She lost her son about six months ago and I can only imagine that yesterday was hard for her. I wish I had the strength to tell her that I'm sorry for her loss, but I just don't feel that it's my place. But I just wanted to change the subject as soon as possible.

I will leave you today with a picture of Chiisai. 'Cause he always makes me smile. :D
